Welcome and Thank You
Welcome to our Native Wild England Website
This wonderful informative site is at last live after 14 months of diligent work: we do hope it will be received warmly by our readers.
After a great deal of thought and discussion with the team it was decided to base this native wildlife website on an A-Z of 365 animals. You can learn about one animal each day and we hope you will find each write-up informative and pleasing to read.
We have a surprising number of animal species in England, the vast majority of which are rarely seen and little known by most people. For example we want our readers to know something about our native 2 frogs, 2 toads, 3 snakes, 3 lizards, 3 newts, 17 bats, 24 land mammals and 94 resident birds.
The site, with its 365 animals, includes marine and insect life. The information about each animal is presented in a child-friendly format which is easy-to-read. We hope it will appeal to children and adults alike.
Over the coming months it is intended to write more detailed information on approximateley 125 animals, with each divided into 5 age categories. These age categories will correspond to school years 2- 6 (Ages 6- 11) and will be written in a style with grammar compatible to the National Curriculum for each age group.
You will find our A-Z list has the following symbol
. This symbol identifies the age categories. At the moment we have 37 age categories listed on our site and we will also be including Adult Fact Files in the not too distant future!
