Freshwater Molluscs

In England we do not have any freshwater slugs. We do, however, have a number of freshwater snails and bivalve molluscs. We have approximately 50 native species of freshwater snails in England and we have described the Great Pond Snail in our A-Z and we will be writing about the Greater Ramshorn Snail at a later date. We have close to 20 species of native freshwater bivalve molluscs including several species of freshwater cockles and mussels. We have also described the Swan Mussel in our A-Z.
