Other Birds
At the moment we have only written about the Grey Partridge, but we will be writing about the Chough, the Great Bustard and the Twite soon. All these birds are different to other birds mentioned in our website and this is why we have given them their own 'Other Birds' category. The Grey Partridge can be found on grassland, farmlands, wastelands and moors. The Chough on rocky coasts mainly in the west and the Twite prefers to live in open country or near to moorland. The Great Bustard prefers to live in chalk grassland that has lots of insects in summer and in winter it prefers to live on farmland with lots of cereal food.
The Great Bustard is a very rare bird in England and can mainly be seen on Salisbury Plain in the south west where the first breeding pair were seen nesting in 2007. This nesting pair of Great Bustards are the first to nest in England for over 175 years and we hope they will be the first of many to breed and nest in our country.
